I really cannot say much about it, as I haven't read it, but my 7 1/2 yo granddaughter absolutely loves it and shared with me via Zoom the other day her illustration of Superman. This volume includes every Superman story written in 1940 in Action Comics and Superman. As in the previous volume, this book shows readers a ruthless Superman who will occasionally bend the law to capture criminals. Readers will see the end of Ultra-Humanite, Superman's first villain, and the rise of a red-headed Luthor as a mad scientist. He also confronts a couple of mad scientists as well as many racketeers, gangsters, and corrupt officials. All stories are written by Jerry Siegel. Although these stories are predictable and simple compared to today's standards, they are fast-paced and full of action. Something is always happening on each page, so these comics never stop being fun to read. I could forgive the absurdities of how sometimes Superman solved the problems because the aim was at showing Superman in action. It also seems that Siegel is getting better at writing these stories. Readers also get to see early on the relationship that Lois has with Clark and Superman, while Clark makes passes at Lois every time he has a chance. In Superman #7, editor White replaces Taylor adding one more character to the Superman myth. Readers also get to see Lois's first inquiry about Superman's true identity. The artwork, mostly done by Schuster, is cartoonish. Jack Burnley, another illustrator, makes a few collaborations which shows more details, shadows, and realistically drawn characters. I found this volume quite a reading experience for a golden era comic.
